Web Browser is a navigator for you that steers your way through the unfathomable world of Internet. The most common web browsers ie.-Internet Explorer (IE), Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome are also the most advent-grade browsers that have dominated the Internet scenario globally. Festooned with a string of technology-advanced features, these browsers will surely give thrust to your Internet-surfing sessions. If most web browsers are so advanced, then why there is a need for Web Browser Support? Let’s unfold the reason in upcoming paragraphs.
Ecommerce definition and types of ecommerce
Ecommerce (e-commerce) or electronic commerce, a subset of ebusiness, is the purchasing, selling, and exchanging of goods and services over computer networks (such as the Internet) through which transactions or terms of sale are performed electronically. Contrary to popular belief, ecommerce is not just on the Web. In fact, ecommerce was alive and well in business to business transactions before the Web back in the 70s via EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) through VANs (Value-Added Networks). Ecommerce can be broken into four main categories: B2B, B2C, C2B, and C2C.
- B2B (Business-to-Business)
Companies doing business with each other such as manufacturers selling to distributors and wholesalers selling to retailers. Pricing is based on quantity of order and is often negotiable.
- B2C (Business-to-Consumer)
Businesses selling to the general public typically through catalogs utilizing shopping cart software. By dollar volume, B2B takes the prize, however B2C is really what the average Joe has in mind with regards to ecommerce as a whole.
Having a hard time finding a book? Need to purchase a custom, high-end computer system? How about a first class, all-inclusive trip to a tropical island? With the advent ecommerce, all three things can be purchased literally in minutes without human interaction. Oh how far we've come!
- C2B (Consumer-to-Business)
A consumer posts his project with a set budget online and within hours companies review the consumer's requirements and bid on the project. The consumer reviews the bids and selects the company that will complete the project. Elance empowers consumers around the world by providing the meeting ground and platform for such transactions.
- C2C (Consumer-to-Consumer)
There are many sites offering free classifieds, auctions, and forums where individuals can buy and sell thanks to online payment systems like PayPal where people can send and receive money online with ease. eBay's auction service is a great example of where person-to-person transactions take place everyday since 1995.
G2G (Government-to-Government), G2E (Government-to-Employee), G2B (Government-to-Business), B2G (Business-to-Government), G2C (Government-to-Citizen), C2G (Citizen-to-Government) are other forms of ecommerce that involve transactions with the government--from procurement to filing taxes to business registrations to renewing licenses. There are other categories of ecommerce out there, but they tend to be superfluous.

Any object, man-made or natural, that orbits another body.
In astronomy, a satellite is a natural body that revolves around a planet and is also called a moon. With the IAU's 2006 decision on the definition of a planet (which changed the definition of Pluto), a satellite (moon) can also revolve around a dwarf planet, as Charon does for Pluto.
In aerospace and space exploration, a satellite is a man-made object launched into space to orbit the Earth, moon, sun or other celestial body. Some examples are weather satellites and communications satellites.
Advantages of Information Technology:
To understand the importance of Information Technology, it is very important to know the advantages of using IT applications.
- Creation of new jobs – The jobs of Computer engineers, Hardware and Software personnel, Database Administrators, IT Managers have all been a result of Information Technology. Undoubtedly we can say that IT has given us a lot of chance to grow.
- Communication – Another use of Information Technology is the way we communicate with our friends and family members. Making voice or video calls through internet, sending text messages through mobile phones, sending e mails have all been possible because of this invention of Information Technology.
- Global Village – It refers to bring the world closer together by removing the political, economic, social and technical barriers. It has enabled the world to become one entity and work as one interdependent system. The result is that we can now share information in quick span of time all across the world. It has shaped the world into a global village where a person sitting at one part of this village can communicate with a person sitting at the other part of the village.
- Reducing the cultural gap – IT also allows the people to communicate more freely without any cultural or social differences. People from all across the world come together and share their views on different aspects. All these features of IT help us understand what Information Technology is.
- Affordability – IT enabled services are not only fast and efficient but also very economic and affordable. IT services has streamlined the process thereby reducing the wastage and number of resources required. In other words, reduction in the processing and transaction time has further lead to the reduction in the cost.
- Continuous Service – Now all the businesses are open all the time to help the customers sitting in the other time zone. Features like 24 hours customer support service, email support and BPO industries are an example to show round the clock services of IT

As can be seen in the pyramid there are a lot of different information systems. A lot of information systems combine different types. They all have different purposes and because they can be confusing, knowledge of information science is essential to make an information system succesful.

Executive Information System
An Executive Information System (EIS) is a type of management information system intended to facilitate and support the information and decision-making needs of senior executives by providing easy access to both internal and external information relevant to meeting the strategic goals of the organization. It is commonly considered as a specialized form of a Decision Support System (DSS).
Decision Support Systems
Decision Support Systems (DSS) are a specific class of computerized information systems that supports business and organizational decision-making activities. A properly-designed DSS is an interactive software-based system intended to help decision makers compile useful information from raw data, documents, personal knowledge, and/or business models to identify and solve problems and make decisions.
Management Reporting Systems
Management Reporting Systems are intended to provide aggregated data about the performance of the organization. Usually these are created from data generated by the knowledge or operational layers of information systems
Business Intelligence Systems
Business Intelligence (BI) refers to skills, technologies, applications and practices used to help a business acquire a better understanding of its commercial context. Business intelligence may also refer to the collected information itself.
BI technologies provide historical, current, and predictive views of business operations. Common functions of business intelligence technologies are reporting, OLAP, analytics, data mining, business performance management, benchmarks, text mining, and predictive analytics.
Popular closed source (e.g. Business Objects (SAP) or Cognos) and open source (e.g. JasperSoft or Pentaho) software often have the functionality that can provide information for the different types of information systems that are shown in the pyramid.
Office Information Systems
Office Information Systems provide information to the organization that is not directly available from operational support systems. Often this is textual data(e.g. Office-documents or E-mail), but it can also be a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system. Intranet and wiki's are very popular applications of these.
Knowledge Management Systems
Knowledge Management Systems are meant to facilitate knowledge management in an organization. As described in our approach and in the knowledge creation cycle they are only part (although very important) of a knowledge management strategy. It is not an Office Information System as is often thought and should be smaller in size than Office Information System. If implemented and used properly they can be considered as force multipliers for an organization.
Transaction Processing Systems
A Transaction Processing System is a set of information which process the data transaction in database system that monitors transaction programs (a special kind of program). The essence of a transaction program is that it manages data that must be left in a consistent state. These are usually databases.
